How does Nutella on toast sound to you? How about warm Nutella on toast? How about marmalade on toast? Or marmalade on buttered toast? How about butter, marmalade and Nutella on toast with a sprinkling of sea salt and chopped nuts? Does that sound good? One thing’s for sure, it definitely tastes good!
This idea for a snack came from Dorie Greenspan’s Around My French Table cookbook. It seems the French love Nutella as much as the Americans love their peanut butter. Nutella on bread is a classic after-school snack. Nutella Tartine is French chef Pierre Herme’s take on the simple snack. I’ve adapted the recipe to suit what I have in my pantry.
Butter and toast slices of French bread.
Spread Seville orange marmalade over.
Drizzle each slice with warm Nutella.
Top with a light sprinkling of fleur de sel and some chopped nuts.

I could go for this right now! I have one jar of my homemade Seville orange marmalade left, but I’m kind of hoarding it until I can make more. And I can’t keep Nutella around–I just eat it all.

That looks absolutely DIVINE! Anything with Nutella is bound to be a hit with the kids. My kids have yet to try it though… 🙂
