Breathing New Life into Failed Cake

Remember my earlier post about the cake that didn’t rise hence I couldn’t make the tall party cake? I didn’t know what to do with it but I couldn’t just throw it out so I put it away in the fridge. Then yesterday I remembered my long procrastinated project – cake pops! I had all the ingredients and materials. Just never gotten around to making them. It was a fantastic way to use up the cake, I’m so pleased it didn’t go to waste. The cake pop was great with the lemony cake and the chocolate. I served them at an ‘Everyday Style’ party I hosted this morning and they were a hit!

Dorie’s Perfect Party Cake crumbled and mixed with canned cream cheese frosting. Dipped in melted Mercken’s chocolate wafers, thinned with sunflower oil.

    You did a great job with the cake, looks so cute and nice! Chocolates certainly makes everything better! 🙂 Regarding the question on the yellow bean paste, yes it is in fact “tauchu” the minced ones, usually sold here in the bottle with the yellow cover. If you have the “tauchu-whole beans” which is usually with the red cover, then you will have to either pound or mash with a spoon. That is a really good chicken dish which I’m sure your sons will enjoy, the gravy is really good with rice. Hope your family will enjoy it as much we do! Have a lovely week, KY!

    Your cake pops look absolutely perfect, and what a great use for a cake you weren’t happy with. I bet they were a big hit! I have made that perfect party cake, and while it rose, we didn’t think it was great. Next time, use your own cake recipe and I think you’ll be happier with it. And a belated happy birthday to the birthday boy too!
